What We Do
Blue Forest is a project developer focused to protecting and restoring mangrove forests around the world. We are currently developing mangrove projects in 6 countries spanning 215,000 hectares.
Our projects include Mozblue, one of the world’s largest reforestation projects, located in Mozambique. This project involves working closely with over 300 coastal communities to plant 200 million mangroves across 30,000 hectares of degraded mangroves in the biodiversity-sensitive provinces of Zambezia and Sofala. MozBlue will remove approximately 20.4 million tons of CO2 during the project’s 60-year lifetime.
MozBlue stands out as the first carbon removal project to grant formal land tenure to local communities over the restoration areas, empowering them with ownership and ensuring the project’s long-term success and permanence. The project will create around 5,000 forestry jobs for local communities, fostering economic growth and improved livelihoods.
All our mangrove restoration projects, including MozBlue, are financed through the voluntary carbon market.
