What We Do
Blue Forest is a project developer dedicated to protecting and restoring mangrove
forests around the world. We are currently implementing mangrove projects in 10 countries, including the largest mangrove reforestation project in Africa called MozBlue in Mozambique. This project alone will plant over 200 million mangroves across 140,000 hectares of mangrove forests in the biodiversity-sensitive provinces of Sofala and Zambezia. MozBlue will offset approximately 15 million tons of CO2 emissions during its 20-year lifetime.
We understand that the front-line warriors in this mission are the local communities living alongside the forests. For this reason, we work hand-in-hand with local and Indigenous communities to uncover and finance community-led and sustainable solutions to deforestation. 60% of the net income we generate goes back to the local communities, with a further 20% benefiting the host country.
These blue carbon projects are financed through the voluntary carbon market. All our high-quality emissions reduction carbon credits adhere to both VCS and CCB standards.
